tag.
You didn't make it.
That's what he said.
In my mind's eye I see you sitting about -
Your fluffy black fur with the white tips.
the black furball,
a non-descript name given by one who knows better than to give you a real name.
I thought about Licorice, but it didn't seem quite right.
Remember the time The Farmer was gone and I lost the cows?
You faithfully accompanied me through the alley,
past the corral,
up the hill,
through the woods,
near the creek
and back.
It's then that I knew your name was Tag.
You were more of a Tag-Along than the dog.
You were so roly-poly for a little guy who liked to follow everywhere.
To the barn, to the shop, out to the pasture to check on the cows....
There you were, always underfoot,
Lopping along like you thought you were a dog.
I never even got around to taking your photo...
...like you never even existed.
But I know you did,
'cause there's definitely an empty spot in my heart.
I wish you would have made it.

When Irish Eyes are Smilin'
Here’s some great audio of an 8-year old girl from Dublin, Ireland making prank phone calls. Becky is featured on an Irish morning radio show. Get started with a clip (below) where she contacts a demolition company to blow up her school. Fill yer boots, man!
